None of us could have truly predicted the lasting effects of this pandemic! In order to allow us to adhere to guidelines set out by our Regulator and Public Health, we are seeing an average of five fewer patients each day. Because of the 700+ appointments we had to cancel while closed in the Spring of 2020, and the fact that we are currently working at this reduced capacity, we have had to overhaul our entire schedule and the way we were accustomed to working. Indeed, this is no small undertaking!
Our main backlog at this time are cleaning appointments with our hygienists. If you had an appointment cancelled while we were closed, please know that we have not forgotten you! We are working hard to ensure that we are providing the best care possible for everyone in our patient family. In doing this, we take into account the following factors:
• overall health status of the patient (ie: Is the patient medically or immuno-compromised?)
• oral health status of the patient (ie: Is the patient at high risk of dental disease such as periodontal disease, oral cancer, cavities?)
• when was the patient last seen? (ie: Is the patient more than a year overdue? When was their last cleaning and check-up?)
• does the patient have an upcoming appointment already booked? (Previously booked appointments may still need to be changed)
This temporary system may mean that the frequency that you have been accustomed to in the past for your cleanings may not be possible right now. But rest-assured, we will endeavour to make this as short-lived as possible. With everyone's willingness to work together we can get through this challenge!
